President Buhari Hands Over Nigeria To Osinbajo, Goes On 5-Day Vacation

Buhari begins vacation as Osinbajo becomes acting president
President Muhammadu Buhari has proceeded on a 5-day vacation, his office announced Friday, February 5, 2016.


According to the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Mr. Femi Adesina, President Buhari will be on break from his official functions from February 5 to February 10, 2016.
The Presidency stated that while the President is on vacation, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the President.
“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” the statement said.
The President is embarking on his first vacation only eight months since coming to office.
