Supreme Court Upholds Saraki’s Trial At CCT

The Supreme Court has on Friday, February 5, rejected the appeal filed by the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki to stop his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for false declaration of assets.

Supreme Court Delivers Judgement on Saraki’s trial at CCT

The verdict, it was learnt, was delivered by a seven-man panel of Justices of the Apex Court, led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed.
In its judgement, the Apex Court declared that Saraki’s trial at the CCT is proper and in order.
Recall, Mr. Saraki had filed an appeal at the Apex Court seeking to nullify the 13-count charge the Federal Government filed against him at the CCT.
The government had, in the charge it filed before the CCT, alleged that Saraki tampered with the assets declaration form he filled prior to his emergence as the Senate President.
